The bill banning the activities of the russian orthodox church has been submitted to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his signing.

Member of Parliament from the Servant of the People faction Yevheniia Kravchuk announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Bill 8371 "On the protection of the constitutional order in the sphere of activities of religious organizations" was signed by the speaker and directed to the signature of the President of Ukraine. We are waiting!", she wrote.

According to the adopted bill, the activities of foreign religious organizations located in a state recognized as having carried out or carrying out armed aggression against Ukraine and/or temporarily occupying part of the territory of Ukraine, as well as directly or indirectly (including through public speeches of managers or other management bodies) support armed aggression against Ukraine, are banned on the territory of Ukraine.

It is provided that the activity of religious organizations affiliated with a foreign religious organization, the activity of which is prohibited in Ukraine, should be terminated.

It is established that a religious organization operating in Ukraine cannot have a management center (office) in the russian federation.

A commission will also be created that will conduct research into the existence of connections, affiliation with moscow, or research into the facts of the spread of the ideology of the "russian world".

The conclusions of the religious examination, information of other central executive authorities, data of public electronic registers, as well as information received from individuals and/or legal entities, from the media and other open sources may be used during the review.

In the future, the results of the examination will be studied by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethno-Politics and Freedom of Conscience, which will issue an order in case of violations.

Religious organizations are given 2 months to comply with the requirements of the decree, severing ties with the russian federation, taking into account the administrative appeal procedure.

If the organization's ties with the aggressor state have not been severed within 60 days, the State Service for Ethno-Politics and Freedom of Conscience will apply to the court.

The text of the document emphasizes that no provision of the law can be interpreted as limiting the freedom of religion or belief, the right to observe religious practices and ritual rites.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 20, the Verkhovna Rada banned the activities of the russian church in Ukraine.
