Pentagon lifts no ban from use of American weapons by AFU for strikes against russia

Currently, the Pentagon has not lifted restrictions on the use of American weapons by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for strikes deep into the territory of the russian federation.

This follows from a statement by the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense, Patrick S. Ryder.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian military can use the provided American weapons for self-defense, in particular to repel attacks.

This means that the Defense Forces of Ukraine have the right to fire in response to threats that directly threaten their security and territory.

However, as Ryder noted, the U.S. policy regarding long-range strikes deep into russian territory remains the same as before.

"As far as long-range strikes on russian territory are concerned, our position has not changed," the Pentagon spokesperson said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, earlier today, on August 26, the head of the European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, called on Ukraine to lift restrictions so that it could strike with Western weapons deep into the territory of the russian federation.

In late July, it became known that the russians promptly withdrew combat aircraft from airfields near Ukraine against the background of news that a number of countries allowed the AFU to use their weapons for strikes on the territory of the russian federation.
