During the massive russian attack on Ukraine on Monday, August 26, four NPP power units were temporarily disconnected from the grid.

The Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna reported this in a letter to the IAEA.

The letter states that power units No. 1, 3 and 4 at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant were disconnected from the grid at 08:58 a.m. on Monday.

At 9:05 a.m., the power of units of the South Ukraine NPP was reduced, and at 5:05 p.m. power unit No. 3 at this NPP was disconnected from the grid due to fluctuations in the national power system, which were caused by the russian strike.

"The Russian Federation continues to deliberately target Ukraine's energy infrastructure, intending to disrupt the operation of the country's nuclear power plants, which provide most of Ukraine's electricity. Russian attacks pose a significant risk to the stable operation of nuclear facilities in Ukraine and the safety of millions of people,” the letter to the IAEA said.

The Permanent Mission of Ukraine asked the IAEA to immediately convey this information to all members of the organization.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the russians used 127 missiles and 109 attack UAVs for the massive attack on August 26. A total of 102 missiles and 99 attack UAVs were shot down.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the russian attack on Ukraine on August 26 a combined attack and one of the largest, targeting critical civilian infrastructure.
