Russian advance near Pokrovsk not connected with AFU operation in Kursk Oblast – Czech president

The rapid advance of the aggressor country of the russian federation on the Pokrovsk axis is not connected with the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast.

The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, has said this in response to a question from Radio Svoboda at a press conference in Prague.

"I don't think there is a direct connection between the operation in the Kursk Oblast and the higher pace of Russian advance (in the Donbas - Ed.). It simply means that the Russian leadership continues to move towards the goal of capturing the territory of all four regions that they consider their own. And this is what they want to achieve during a convenient time, while the weather is still good for military operations," Pavel said.

Recall, on the Kursk axis, the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced another 2 kilometers, took control of 5 square kilometers of territory.

On August 27, during the Ukraine 2024. Independence forum, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced that the Armed Forces in the Kursk Oblast (russia) had taken control of 1,294 square kilometers of territory, 100 settlements, and also captured 594 russian servicemen.
