Defense forces of Ukraine took control of 1,294 square kilometers of territory, 100 settlements in the Kursk Oblast of russia, and also captured 594 russian servicemen.

This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, during the "Ukraine 2024. Independence" forum, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"As of today, we continue to move forward, causing significant losses in manpower and equipment to the russian troops. To date, we have taken control of 1,294 square kilometers of territory, 100 settlements located on this territory. Also, thanks to the successful actions of our troops, we have significantly replenished exchange fund. To date, 594 servicemen of the Armed Forces of the russian federation have been captured in this Axis," he said.

Syrskyi noted that the enemy is trying to resist, withdrawing troops from other Axes, thereby weakening them, and is trying to create a ring of defense around the Ukrainian offensive group, and is planning further counteroffensive actions, but the active actions of the Armed Forces  of Ukraine prevent this.

He also noted that further actions of Ukrainian troops in this Axis will depend on the development of the operational situation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Syrskyi also said that the russians have transferred about 30,000 of their military personnel to the Kursk Axis, but they are still continuing to increase their efforts in the Pokrovsk Axis.

On August 6, the Defense Forces of Ukraine began an offensive operation in the Kursk Axis.
