Situation critical, but looks better for Ukraine than 3 months ago – Finnish President about war

Finland, end of war in Ukraine, President of Finland, Alexander Stubb

It is difficult to estimate when the full-scale war of the aggressor country russia against Ukraine will end. The situation is critical, but for Ukraine the state of affairs looks better than three months ago.

The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, has stated this, Yle reports.

Stubb answered questions from listeners on the "Hour with the President" program, where most of the questions were about the war in Ukraine. According to him, it is currently difficult to predict when it may end after 2.5 years.

"The situation is critical, but for Ukraine the state of affairs looks better than three months ago. It is a positive moment that peace talks have begun," said Stubb.

The President of Finland noted that his country will continue to support Ukraine as long as it is needed, but it is difficult for Finland to become a mediator in the negotiations, since it has chosen its side in this war. At the same time, Stubb emphasized that there should be no restrictions on the use of Western weapons, as long as Ukraine does it in self-defense and within the framework of international law, but the strikes should not fall on civilian objects.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 3, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that China could end the war in Ukraine if it wanted to.

On May 29, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, said that Ukraine could attack russia with weapons provided by Finland.

Recall that in March of this year, the Security Police of Finland declared that russia poses the greatest threat to the country.
