Rada dismisses Foreign Ministry head Kuleba

The Verkhovna Rada accepted the resignation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba.

MP from the Holos faction, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, announced this in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

240 MPs voted for the relevant decision, with the minimum required 226.

Zhelezniak noted that Kuleba was not present in the Verkhovna Rada during the dismissal.

"Parliament dismissed Dmytro Kuleba from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. FOR - 240. He never came to the report," the MP said.

Kuleba has held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs since March 4, 2020.

According to the legislation, the candidacy for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs is submitted by the President for approval by the Verkhovna Rada. It is expected that the appointment of the new head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take place on Thursday.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the morning of Wednesday, September 4, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk announced on Facebook that the Verkhovna Rada had received a resignation letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kuleba.

The head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, said that on September 4, a meeting of the monomajority faction took place, at which personnel renewal was considered and which was attended by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, based on the results of the meeting, the factions worked out a general picture of personnel rotations to strengthen the state, in particular, they decided that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be headed by First Deputy Minister Andrii Sybiha.
