Court of Appeal confirms impossibility of returning PrivatBank to Kolomoiskyi and Cyprus offshore

The Northern Economic Court of Appeal of the city of Kyiv confirmed the impossibility of returning the state-owned PrivatBank to its former owners, closing the proceedings following a lawsuit filed by the former shareholders of PrivatBank, Ihor Kolomoiskyi, and the Cypriot company Triantal Investments Ltd.

This is stated in the bank's message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Before the bank's nationalization, Kolomoiskyi owned 41.7% of the bank's shares, and Triantal - 16.6%.

Thus, the court confirmed the legality of the actions of the court of first instance regarding the closing of the proceedings in the case on the basis of Law 590-IX "On the Deposit Guarantee System".

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 27, 2023, the Economic Court of the city of Kyiv closed proceedings in a similar case at the request of another ex-owner of the bank - Hennadii Boholiubov.

Earlier, on November 15, 2023, the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal in the case of the lawsuit of Ihor Kolomoiskyi confirmed the impossibility of canceling the decisions and agreements made in the process of nationalization of PrivatBank.

On December 18, 2016, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decision on the state's entry into the capital of PrivatBank.

The transfer of PrivatBank to the ownership of the state took place in accordance with Article 411 of the law "On the system of guaranteeing deposits of individuals".

The state spent more than UAH 155 billion on the recapitalization of PrivatBank.
