Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal declares that the government is not involved in negotiations regarding the transit of russian gas or oil.

Ukrinform reports this with reference to Shmyhal's press conference.

"Our association agreement (with the EU) includes Ukraine's obligation to reliably supply European countries with gas and oil. We are ready to fulfill our association agreement, but we are not ready to cooperate with Russia," Shmyhal said.

He said that he does not have details about the negotiations on the transit of Azerbaijani gas, but he is sure that there are no negotiations on the continuation of gas transit from russia.

"Today, the Ukrainian government, I, as the prime minister, are not involved in negotiations regarding the transit of Russian gas or oil," Shmyhal stressed.

He also commented on the imposition of sanctions on the russian Lukoil.

"The imposition of sanctions on Lukoil, as one of the largest donors to the Russian budget, is the prerogative of the NSDC and the Security Service of Ukraine. We do not dispute this," Shmyhal said.

He noted that Ukraine is satisfied that the transit of oil is carried out by a Hungarian company.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that Ukraine, russia and the EU have appealed to Azerbaijan with the aim of preserving gas transit through the territory of russia and Ukraine.

On September 9, the Hungarian energy company Mol Nyrt announced that it had reached an agreement that would ensure the uninterrupted supply of russian crude oil via a pipeline through Ukraine.
