Russia is actively promoting the Sino-Brazilian plan to settle the war in Ukraine.

This was announced by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Andrii Kovalenko, in the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"On September 11, a two-day meeting of representatives of BRICS countries dealing with national security issues began in St. Petersburg. This is a challenge for us, because the main topics of discussion were the prospects for a "peaceful settlement" of russian aggression against Ukraine, preparation for the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, as well as bilateral interaction of the participants in matters of security and economy," he said.

The NSDC drew special attention to the statements of the representatives of the russian federation, the People's Republic of China and Iran, who supported the Sino-Brazilian initiative to settle the war in Ukraine.

According to the NSDC, the russian and Chinese sides actively promoted narratives for the countries of the Global South about the benefits of cooperation within the framework of BRICS (Brazil, russia, India, China, South African Republic), while Iran made a proposal to create a new security structure to counter common threats.

"The meeting in St. Petersburg has two key aspects: active promotion of the Sino-Brazilian plan to settle the war in Ukraine; preparation for the expansion of BRICS. Also important is the presence at the summit of representatives of Belarus (O. Volfovich, who is a russian intelligence officer), Serbia (Vice-Prime Minister A. Vulin), Turkey (Deputy Secretary General of the National Security Council M. Samandzi) and Cuba (Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs L.A. Casas)," Kovalenko noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in May, China and Brazil proposed to hold an alternative to the Peace Summit in Switzerland (held in June), a peace conference regarding Ukraine.

Brazil and China believe that it is necessary to discuss a peaceful settlement with the participation of both sides of the armed "conflict".
