In the Khmelnytskyi Region, as a result of a special operation, the KORD Rapid Operational Response Unit of the National Police detained a man who shot two official cars and wounded a policeman and a civilian. The attacker fired 60 bullets from a Kalashnikov assault rifle at police officers and official vehicles.

This is stated in the message of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Khmelnytskyi Region.

So, it is reported that the event took place on September 14, around one o'clock in the morning, in the village of Oleshyn of the Khmelnytskyi territorial community. A crew of the patrol police response team stopped a local resident's car to check the reasons for driving during the curfew.

It turned out that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol - Drager certified the presence of 1.27 ppm of alcohol in the body. Law enforcement officers filed a report on the driver under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on administrative offenses (driving vehicles by persons who are intoxicated).

After that, the driver, who lives nearby, went home as if to solve the problem with the vehicle, while leaving his friend in the car. He returned to the scene already with a Kalashnikov assault rifle and started shooting at law enforcement officers. The police returned fire and called for help.

As a result, the shooter injured one of the police officers and a passenger in his own car. They were admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. The law enforcement officer is in serious condition.

Two official cars were also damaged: one of the crew that stopped the attacker, the other - of special forces soldiers who arrived on call to help colleagues.

As a result of the special operation, soldiers of the KORD Rapid Operational Response Unit of the National Police detained the shooter.

Currently, criminal proceedings have been opened for this fact under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Infringement on the life of a law enforcement officer). Procedural management is carried out by the special prosecutor's office. The inspection of the scene is ongoing.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, 270,000 weapons have been lost and stolen since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
