Cabinet proposes to Rada to increase funding for national security and defense in 2025 to 26.3% of GDP

The Cabinet of Ministers proposes to the Verkhovna Rada to increase funding for national security and defense in 2025 to UAH 2,223 billion or 26.3% of GDP.

This is stated in the explanatory note to the bill 12000 on the state budget for 2025, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"In the project of the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025, the total resources for national security and defense are provided in the amount of UAH 2,223,042.4 million or 26.3 percent of GDP," the note says.

In particular, expenditures under budget programs of the Ministry of Defense, other subjects of the security and defense sector - UAH 2,193,042.4 million.

State guarantees - up to UAH 30 billion.

Expenditures from the general fund are planned to be directed in the following directions:

cash support and wages (with accruals) - UAH 1,152,670.4 million;

fuel and lubricants, material and other types of security - UAH 71,286.9 million;

medicines and dressing materials - UAH 1,777.8 million;

food products - UAH 40,081 million;

payment of utility services and energy carriers - UAH 14,111.5 million;

creation, purchase, modernization and repair of weapons and military (special) equipment - UAH 574,861.4 million;

other expenses - UAH 187,048.3 million.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the 2024 state budget provides for defense and security of UAH 1.7 trillion, or 21.6% of GDP.
