On September 16, the Polish government declared a state of emergency in parts of the Lower Silesian, Opole and Silesian voivodeships in the south and southwest of the country.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk's office reports this.

In Lower Silesia, as a result of the breach of the dam between the Topol and Kozelno reservoirs, it was necessary to announce the immediate evacuation of part of the city of Pachków in the southwest of the country. The crisis headquarters is to meet in Wrocław in the near future, where a detailed list of counties and communes subject to the state of emergency and natural disaster will be approved.

Tusk noted that the government has a document that provides for the announcement of evacuation.

"As I mentioned yesterday, we will use it only in a situation where people's lives are directly threatened," the Polish Prime Minister said.

According to the draft decree of the Council of Ministers: a state of natural disaster will be introduced in flooded areas for up to 30 days. This state involves the restriction of rights and freedoms, including an evacuation order and a ban on staying in certain places.

Tusk also noted that one billion zlotys will be allocated from the reserve for the needs of people affected by the flood.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a major flood is raging in Europe, which is already being called the biggest in the last 30 years. In Romania and Poland, there are already the first deaths.
