Naftogaz Group has agreed with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on the procurement of gas piston units.

This is stated in the message of Naftogaz, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Oleksii Chernyshov, the head of the Naftogaz Group, following the meeting with representatives of the UNDP led by Jaco Cilliers, announced that the group is strengthening cooperation with the UNDP regarding energy security and the passage of the 2024/2025 heating season, in particular in the matter of the procurement of gas piston units.

"We have agreements on the procurement of gas piston units, which will additionally strengthen our ability to provide uninterrupted electricity and heat to Ukrainians during the winter period," Chernyshov said.

He thanked UNDP for its support and assistance in overcoming the devastating consequences of russian aggression.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 6, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko announced that hundreds of MW of the planned 1 GW of new gas generation for 2024 had already been built, and 600 MW had been financed.

In June, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine intends to build 1 GW of flexible gas generation in 2024 and another 4 GW in the coming years.
