Cabinet suggests Rada increase Defense Ministry funding by 35% in 2025

The Cabinet of Ministers proposes to the Verkhovna Rada to increase the funding of the Ministry of Defense in 2025 by 35% to UAH 1,568.1 billion from UAH 1,164 billion in 2024.

This is stated in bill No. 12000 on the state budget for 2025, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

UAH 1,500.8 billion is provided for the administration of the Ministry of Defense (in 2024 – UAH 1,149 billion).

For leadership and military management in the field of defense – UAH 663.3 million (in 2024 – UAH 663.8 million).

UAH 1,012.3 billion (in 2024 – UAH 882.8 billion) to support the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, training of personnel and troops, medical care of personnel, military service veterans and their family members, war veterans.

For the development, purchase, modernization and repair of weapons, military equipment, means and equipment – UAH 487.7 billion (UAH 265.4 billion in 2024).

For the construction (purchase) of housing for servicemen of the Armed Forces – UAH 102.3 million (2024 – UAH 100.8 million).

For the disposal of ammunition, liquid components of rocket fuel, weapons, military equipment and other military property, ensuring the survivability and fire safety of arsenals, bases and warehouses of the Armed Forces – UAH 23.2 million (in 2024 – UAH 23.2 million)

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 14, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted the state budget for 2025 to the Rada for approval, in particular, it proposes to increase funding for national security and defense in 2025 to 26.3% of GDP.
