Today, every second piece of ammunition on the front is Ukrainian-made.

The Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov in a column for Forbes Ukraine, talking about the key achievements during the first year of his work as a minister, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Today, every second piece of ammunition on the front is Ukrainian-made. If in 2023, the Ukrainian share of ammunition was 18%, then in 2024 it will increase to 41%," he wrote.

Umierov said that over the past year, a record USD 4 billion was allocated for the development of Ukrainian defense production, in 2024 the Ministry of Defense alone contracted drones for over UAH 21 billion and ammunition for them for another UAH 9 billion, together with the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection, more than a million drones were purchased for the Ukrainian army.

He noted that Ukrainian drones showed what Moscow never sleeps really is.

According to him, today Ukrainian drones fly for more than 1000 km, fly to Murmansk and the Volga region, destroy russian oil refineries and airfields, Ukraine was the first in the world to introduce the "swarm of drones" technology, in the last year alone it was possible to destroy or damage more than 200 targets on the territory the enemy, including control points, airfields, ships, air defense systems and locations of russian military personnel.

He also noted that Ukraine forced the enemy to relocate their planes to airfields 250 km from the border, and in the Black Sea they forced russian ships to flee from military bases in Crimea to the coast of the Krasnodar KraI. Lacking a full-fledged fleet, over the past year Ukraine has destroyed 10 russian surface ships/boats and one submarine.

Thanks to the DELTA combat system of the Ministry of Defense, Ukraine destroyed more than USD 15 billion worth of russian equipment.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 6, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada appointed the former head of the State Property Fund, Rustem Umierov, to the position of Minister of Defense.
