Biden comments on Harris' choice of Tim Walz as a running mate

U.S. President Joe Biden has called Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris' choice of Tim Walz as her running mate a great decision.

He described Walz as a strong, principled and effective leader.

He wrote about this on X.

"The first major decision a party nominee makes is their choice for Vice President. And Kamala Harris has made a great decision in choosing Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate,” the message reads.

Biden said that he has known Tim Walz for almost two decades - first during his work in Congress and then as Governor. He is a husband and father and has been a school teacher and high school football coach. Biden said Walz served 24 years in the U.S. Army National Guard, making him the highest ranking enlisted soldier to ever serve in Congress.

The U.S. President described Walz chosen by Harris as her running mate during his tenure as governor as a strong, principled and effective leader.

"The Harris-Walz ticket will be a powerful voice for working people and America's great middle class. They will be the strongest defenders of our personal freedoms and our democracy. And they will ensure that America continues to lead the world and play its role as the indispensable nation," Biden said.

According to him, every generation of Americans faces a moment when they are asked to protect American democracy and emphasized that "that moment is now."

"It is time for all Democrats—and indeed all Americans—committed to freedom, democracy, and American leadership in the world to rally behind the Harris-Walz ticket," Biden added.
