Suspect in murder of Lviv Polytechnic professor Farion remains in custody

The Lviv Court of Appeal remained an 18-year-old resident of Dnipro, who is suspected of the intentional murder of a public figure, Member of Parliament of Ukraine of the 7th convocation, Iryna Farion, in custody.

This was announced by the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The guy is suspected of having committed a crime under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Previously, the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without the alternative of posting bail.

Prosecutors insisted on this preventive measure.

The suspect's defense attorney filed an appeal against this decision of the investigating judge and asked to cancel it and choose a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest.

As a result of the court session, the court rejected the lawyer's appeal and left in force the pre-selected preventive measure in the form of detention without bail.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, the suspect in the murder of Lviv Polytechnic professor Iryna Farion, refused to testify in the case.

The court chose a preventive measure for the guy, who is suspected of murdering linguist and activist Iryna Farion - detention for 60 days without the right to bail.
