More than 40,000 Ukrainian citizens have returned to the Motherland after crossing the border with the russian federation.

The spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, announced this on the air of the telethon.

Demchenko reminded that the government of Ukraine has closed all checkpoints on the border with russia, and transit operations are not carried out there. However, the russian side still allows Ukrainians to cross the border, most often this happens through the Pokrovka checkpoint in the Sumy Region.

"We recorded cases when Russia allowed citizens of Ukraine who were heading to our country through the Pokrovka checkpoint from the Ukrainian side and Kolotilovka from the Russian side. This movement occurred almost daily, although sometimes Russia stopped the passage of our citizens," the spokesman said.

He emphasized that Ukrainian border guards are ready to ensure the return of Ukrainian citizens from russia and Belarus through any checkpoint.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the only checkpoint with russia "Kolotilovka-Pokrovka" was closed for 10 days.

Earlier, russian propagandists complained about fighters from the Chechen unit "Akhmat", who left their positions in the border region of the Kursk Oblast  after the start of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
