New wave of COVID-19 spreading across Ukraine

Ministry of Health, Coronavirus, COVID-19, vaccination, Omicron strain, FLiRT strain

A new wave of coronavirus infection is spreading across Ukraine. 11,389 people fell ill in July.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, August 14.

In July, out of 11,389 patients, 2,672 received treatment for the coronavirus in a hospital. The Ministry of Health emphasized that vaccination is the only effective and safe way to acquire immunity from COVID-19, and vaccinations remain free of charge for every Ukrainian.

You can get vaccinated by making an appointment with your family doctor or at the vaccination point at medical facilities.

Information about the nearest vaccination points, their addresses and working hours can be found at the link or at the contact center number: 0-800-60-20-19.

According to the updated recommendations, one vaccination is sufficient for most people. Revaccination after 6-12 months is necessary for people from the following risk groups:

  • adults and children who have weakened immunity or concomitant or severe chronic diseases;
  • pregnant women;
  • people over 60 years old;
  • adults and children who are at risk of severe course and death due to coronavirus infection;
  • representatives of the professional risk group (for example, doctors, teachers, military, etc.).

People who received two or three vaccinations in previous years (depending on the vaccine) and received the fourth or fifth booster vaccination last year can continue to be revaccinated free of charge.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the end of July in Kyiv, the incidence rate of COVID-19 increased significantly.

Three cases of the new subvariant Omicron - FLiRT coronavirus were registered in two regions of Ukraine during July.

In Ukraine, the incidence of COVID-19 has increased six-fold due to the spread of the new FliRT subspecies of the Omicron strain.
