Without spectators and cheat sheets. In USA, they tell about rules of debates between Harris and Trump

USA, Donald Trump, debates, Kamala Harris

The debates between Kamala Harris, who is a candidate for the presidency from the Democratic Party, and her opponent from the Republican party, Donald Trump, will take place on September 10 on the ABC channel. Their rules will be similar to those used in the debates between Trump and Biden.

This was reported by ABC News.

The debates are scheduled to take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. World News Tonight host and editor-in-chief David Muir and Prime host Linsey Davis will moderate the meeting.

The debates will be held according to the following rules:

  • candidates will stand behind the tribunes;
  • there will be only water, clean paper and a pen in the stands;
  • it is not possible to bring pre-prepared recordings to the performance venue;
  • there will be no spectators;
  • only moderators will ask questions;
  • when one candidate speaks, the other's microphone will be turned off;
  • Harris and Trump will have two minutes each to answer, and they will also have additional time for refutation and clarification - two and one minutes, respectively;
  • candidates will not have an opening speech;
  • the candidate will have the right to a closing speech lasting two minutes;
  • the debate should last 90 minutes;
  • there will be commercial breaks during the debate, but during this time the candidates will not be able to communicate with their teams.

It will be recalled that earlier the candidate for the US presidency from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, offered to hold debates with the current vice-president from the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, on the Fox News channel on September 4. In response, the Harris campaign said Trump was trying to cancel the debate, which had already been scheduled for ABC.

Earlier, Trump said he was "absolutely" ready to debate Harris, adding that he would be open to debating her more than once. At the same time, even then, Trump "left the door open" to abandon plans for a debate on ABC.
