Oleksandr Khyzhniak will receive almost UAH 8.5 million in prize money for his victory at Olympics

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khyzhniak, who competes in the weight category up to 80 kg and became the winner of the 2024 Olympics the day before, will receive prizes for his victory from several sources at once, Sport.ua reports.

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On the establishment of awards for athletes of Ukraine - champions, medalists of the Olympic Games and their coaches", each Ukrainian athlete should receive a prize of USD 125,000 for a gold medal.

In addition, Khyzhniak is waiting for a solid award from another Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk. The latter, before the start of the 2024 Olympics, promised to pay the gold medalist in boxing of the 2024 Olympic Games, who represents Ukraine, USD 80,000 from his own funds.

That is, the total amount of bonuses for Oleksandr Khyzhniak will be at least USD 205,000 (~ UAH 8.5 million).

As previously reported, Khyzhniak's opponent in the final was Nurbek Oralbay from Kazakhstan. Khyzhniak won the first round (3:2) according to the judges' notes, then lost the second three-minute round (2:3). Everything was decided by the third round, where all the judges gave victory to the Ukrainian - 5:0.
