Dmytro Lubiets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, said that captured servicemen of the russian occupation army were prohibited from making phone calls to their relatives in russia.

Lubinets told about this on the air of the national telethon on Sunday, September 8.

According to him, Ukraine is changing some things regarding captured russians. For example, it is about the possibility of prisoners to call home.

"As of now, we were informed that russians still have the ability to write letters, but they no longer have the right to make phone calls," Lubinets said.

He drew attention to the fact that the ban on making calls does not violate the norms of the Geneva Convention, which Ukraine adheres to in relation to captured russians.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 2, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the military operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast, more than 600 soldiers of the russian army were captured.

It will be recalled that in May 2024, it became known that another camp will be opened in Ukraine to hold captured occupiers.

And in January of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 34 million for the maintenance of russian prisoners in the "Zakhid 2" camp in Vinnytsia.
