European Commission will provide Ukraine with loan of up to EUR 35 billion - Ursula von der Leyen

The European Commission will provide Ukraine with a loan of up to EUR 35 billion as part of the G7 pledge.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this on X social network.

"Relentless russian attacks means Ukraine needs continued EU support. The EU Commission will provide a loan of up to EUR 35 billion to Ukraine as part of the G7 pledge. This is another major EU contribution to the Ukraine’s recovery," the message reads.

She announced the granting of the loan during a visit to Ukraine, at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. She noted that the loan is supported by income from frozen russian assets.

"We are confident that we can provide this loan to Ukraine very quickly. A loan that is supported by income from frozen russian assets. It will be transferred directly to your state budget," she said.

We will remind you that today, September 20, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is visiting Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, von der Leyen also announced that the European Union has allocated EUR 160 million to support Ukraine's energy security.
