Suspect in murder of Farion fears for his life after threats from her daughter

The police found no grounds for opening a case against the daughter of Iryna Farion, Sofia Semchyshyn, due to alleged threats to murder suspect Vyacheslav Zinchenko.

This is evidenced by court materials, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

On August 5, 2024, the suspect applied to the Main Directorate of the national police in the Lviv Region with a statement about the crime.

According to his statement, on July 26, 2024, during the break of the court session in which a preventive measure was chosen for him, Farion's daughter, in the presence of journalists, prosecutors and others in the courtroom, threatened to kill him.

According to the complaint materials, the suspect indicated that after her words, he really felt a danger to his life and health.

However, the information about the criminal offense was not entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations and the pre-trial investigation on the specified statement about the crime was not started.

The suspect's lawyer appealed to the court about the inaction of the police.

However, the court rejected his complaint.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the daughter of the murdered linguist Iryna Farion, Sofia Semchyshyn, wished the suspect in her mother's murder to die in prison.
